The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Samuel Hodgdon can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Thank you.

Condolence: When I think of my father-in-law, Sam, I think of a good, honest man who worked tirelessly to give his family a good life. A man who loved his wife, Carmen, more than life itself. A man who took meticulous care and great pride in the home he built with his own hands and the property on which it sat. I never heard a cuss word out of his mouth nor saw an action that would offend anyone. Sam was a solid role model for any man, old or young. My life has been blessed beyond compare, thanks to his daughter, Rachel. Her high work ethic is a direct reflection on what Sam taught her and her three wonderful sisters. God bless you, Sam. See you again soon!

Condolence: I first met Sam in 1988 when I made my first trip to New Hampshire to ask his blessings for his daughter Lydia's hand in marriage. Having lost my own dad in 1985 when I was just 19 Sam has been more than a father-in-law to me. He welcomed me into the family with open arms and treated me as one of his own children. We shared many laughs, a few tears, and more than a couple of #9's from D'Angelo when I'd visit. No one loved their family more than Sam; it was his greatest gift! So many great memories were made over the past 30 years. I'll never forget him driving the entire family from New Hampshire to NAS Patuxent River for our wedding, the Hodgdon Family Reunion in West Milan, his attendance at my retirement ceremony from the Navy, or when he traveled to Alabama to see his grandson Octave fly a helicopter while in flight school are Ft. Rucker. Most importantly I'll never forget how he loved his wife Carmen and the loss he felt when she passed in 2004. As we grieve his loss I will find comfort in knowing that he is now reunited with Carmen, his father Sam Sr., Uncle Willie, and all of his sisters. We have lost our earthly patriarch, but we have gained a guardian angel who will protect and guide us on our journey. Until we meet again Sam will continue to live in our hearts and the cherished memories that we made together. Godspeed Dad!
